The birth of Enfoton Solar Ltd
Enfoton Solar Ltd was incorporated in February 2002. The founders’ vision was to employ a vast array of solar energy applications, thereby introducing clean renewable energy to Cyprus and other Eastern Mediterranean countries.

Vision
The incorporation year 2002 brought about a widening of the company’s vision

"To become a leading manufacturer of photovoltaic solar panels for Southern Europe."

German know-how
By securing the proprietary know-how and technology of the pioneering German solar module manufacturer GSS GmbH as well as the signing of a multi MW long-term solar cell supply contract with ErSol, the company became a member of Europe’s then small family of photovoltaic solar module manufacturers.

Production of the first solar module and the sharp rise from 1MW to 60MW
The company successfully produced its first polycrystalline solar module at its wholly owned factory in Strovolos Industrial Estate in April 2003. What followed from then onwards was a rapid development triggered by a still young European PV industry growing on average at annual rates exceeding 30%, and driven by the founders’ vision to become a sizable player in the PV manufacturing arena.

The company’s initial annual manufacturing capacity was catapulted from just 1MW in 2003 to today’s respectable 60MW.

Co-operation with the best in the PV sector
In its first three years of existence, the company managed to lay the foundation for its success story. Co-operation with the industry’s best was always at the heart of the company’s philosophy. Enfoton built strong and long-lasting relationships with the world’s best PV players such as ErSol (today Bosch Solar), Q-Cells SE who are globally the No.1 polycrystalline silicon solar cells producer and IBC SOLAR AG who are a world leader in PV system integration and Enfoton’s biggest customer, just to name but a few.

Certified quality
Already in 2002, Enfoton was certified against the Quality Management System ISO 9001:2000 which today is updated to its latest version ISO9001:2008, the environmental standard ISO14001 and the work health and safety standard OHSAS18001.

Moreover, since its early manufacturing days, all Enfoton products are continuously tested and certified against EN61215:2005 and EN61730:2005 by the renowned Product Quality and Safety Certification bodies, GermanTÜV Rheinland and Italian ICIM.

Investment Strategy
As an important element of its strategy, the company continued to invest in state-of-the-art production machinery and testing equipment and as a result, the technology it deploys today is cutting edge and among the best automated lines in the world.

Continuing its investment strategy, in April 2008 the foundation stone was laid for its brand new purpose built factory and Head Office at Kokkinotrimithia Industrial Estate, just a few kilometers south west of Nicosia. The new 5 000 m² factory, with an initial 60MW annual capacity, began full commercial operation in March 2009.

Further expansion of production capacity to 110MW
Due to increased demand for PV panels worldwide and according to our expansion strategy it was decided in mid 2009 to further increase the production capacity. Thus the production capacity was increased to 110MW in April 2010. With this capacity Enfoton Solar is now considered as one of the large European producers.

Sharp increase in sales
During the years 2003 - 2009 sales and therefore production output, rose at an average rate of 100% per year. 2010 will see an expected 130% increase in production output.

Enfoton Solar Ltd was recently awarded the European Export Award 2008 in the category ‘Best European Union Exporter for Exports per Capita’. This is the second time Enfoton wins this prestigious award. The first time was in the year 2005 in the category ‘The Cyprus Special Export Award’, awarded to companies with the most innovative export products.

Today, Enfoton products are well known and respected in all major European markets such as Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Greece and Enfoton Solar Ltd is ready to expand outside the EU.
